Escape & Evasion Training for Journalists




Journalists in Metro Manila will undergo “Escape & Evasion Tactics Training” to improve their confidence and to be physically and mentally prepared in case of an actual threat to their lives or of their families. An advocacy of 777 Media Forum, an organization of broadcast journalists in Metro Manila, intends to teach journalists escape and evasion tactics through playing paintball. It is a reality game wherein playing journalists will be shot and also have the chance to shoot back to their opponents.

777 Media Forum Inter Press Corps Paintball Tournament, the biggest media event of the year, will be participated by 12 media teams comprising of journalists from print and broadcast. 777 Media Forum Chairman Emeritus Denver Trinidad boasted that three time world champion Global Gutz Philippines Paintball Team, owned by businessman Sonny Torres, will handle the whole day training through an actual tournament on November 20, 2010, Saturday @ 7:30AM at the Global Gutz Paintball field located at Buendia corner Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City. Trinidad explained that by playing paintball journalists will develop their skills in proficiency and learn the basic safety and responsible handling of firearms. The tournament will also improves the confidence of participating journalists and alleviate their fear of gun fire or by mere sight of firearms. Trinidad added that learning the escape and evasion tactics even without owning a firearm will be a vital weapon against any assailant.

The event was made possible through the support of Ericsson Telecommunication, Cebu Pacific Airlines, Duty Free Philippines, Splash Island, Global Gutz, Pocari Sweat Energy Drinks, Philippine Airlines, Universal Robina Corporation, Shell Philippines, Parañaque Mayor Jun Bernabe, Parañaque Councilor Benjo Bernabe, CAAP Director General Alfonso Cusi, Usec Bebot Villar, Businessman Jesus Arranza, Senator Loren Legarda, Senator Bong Revilla, Senator Lito Lapid, Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Senator Tito Sotto.
